  • Gunnar Moyer Wins MCIC's #GoForTheGoals Challenge

Congratulations to Gunner Moyer, a Grade 8 student from Nordale School, on winning the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation ‘s (MCIC) #GoForTheGoals Challenge.

The #GoForTheGoals Challenge is a unique initiative designed to empower students, teachers, and communities to engage with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future for all, addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

This year's challenge focused on SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action. Through various activities and projects, participants will explore these critical issues and take action to create positive change in their communities and beyond.

Gunnar, accompanied by his supportive teacher, and family attended MCIC’s International Development Week Launch Event on Feb. 6, 2024. Gunnar presented his design at the event held at the Legislative Building and shared why he focused on SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy.

His creative design not only earned him accolades but also secured a delectable prize—a pizza party for his entire class.

With Gunnar’s triumph, we celebrate not just an individual victory but a testament to the power of youthful innovation and dedication in shaping a better tomorrow. Congratulations Gunnar!
