    Industry Internships

    Students registered in a certificate program must complete the required internship for program completion. Times and duration of internships are determined by the program. Students in a workplace are covered by Workers Compensation.

    Course Credits

    Students will receive a Manitoba Education credit for each program course completed successfully. Each of these credits may be applied towards a high school graduation or post-secondary purposes.

    LRATC Certificates

    Students who have met all the necessary program requirements will receive an LRATC program certificate. Some programs require an overall average of 60 % or more before certification can be issued. See individual program information for requirements.

    Awards

    Students should consult the LRATC Student Services department about available awards and eligibility criteria. 

    Industry Certification

    Some LRATC programs provide the opportunity to write optional external exams for recognized industry certification. These exams may have an additional cost. 

    Apprenticeship

    Students in several programs at LRATC can benefit from the opportunities available through Apprenticeship Manitoba. Apprenticeship is quality, paid, on-the-job and in-school training that leads to certification as a journeyperson in a skilled trade.

    The Automotive Technology, Electrical Trades, Plumbing Trades and Culinary Arts programs are accredited for Level I Apprenticeship Certification, giving students the benefit of obtaining their Level I in-school technical training component and a time credit of 900 hours towards the trades of Automotive Service Technician, Electrician, and Plumber; and 1350 hours towards the trade of Cook.

    Hairstyling and Esthetics programs are fully accredited, offering students credit for the entire in-school technical training component and the possibility to begin their apprenticeship while still enrolled in the program. 

    Students can gain a significant head-start on Apprenticeship by combining an LRATC program with the High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP). HSAP allows students to earn credit for their paid trade-related evening, weekend and summer work.
