I am thrilled to share our Annual Report to the Community for the 2022-2023 school year, marking the culmination of our Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) for 2019-2023. Annual Report to the Community 2020-2021

ARC Banner 2020-2021

The Annual Report to the Community (ARC) 2020-2021 is now available!

Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) community was faced with uncertainty and disruption. From physical distancing to mask wearing to pivoting to learning from home, staff, students, and families worked together to quickly adjust to a new “normal.” This was only made possible through an incredible amount of kindness, resilience, and innovation.

Despite the uncertainty, we remained committed to our journey toward achieving the goals outlined in our Multi-Year Strategic Plan. That commitment is outlined in this year’s Annual Report to the Community (ARC) through features about youth standing up against racism, improving accessibility through innovative ideas and using data as a flashlight.

You’ll notice references to Bill 64: The Education Modernization Act throughout the ARC. Although the bill has since been defeated, its presence loomed over LRSD and school divisions across the province throughout the first half of 2021 and was a large part of our reality at the time. Our community’s optimism and dedication to our Vision and Mission helped us continue to thrive under challenging circumstances and remain dedicated to doing the important work necessary for positive change.

Living through such unprecedented times gave us the opportunity to pause and discover new ways of looking at ourselves and the world, and how we can change for the better. The lessons learned throughout the 2020-2021 school year will help us build a legacy for years to come. Read all about it in this year’s ARC or view the flipbook here

Annual Report to the Community 2019-2020

ARC Banner 2019-2020The Annual Report to the Community (ARC) 2019-2020 is now available!

While the word unprecedented will be etched into many of our memories as the word used to describe the pandemic and the impact it has had on lives worldwide, three others have been frequently used in the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD).

Resilience. Perseverance. Generosity.

Since the official suspension of in-class learning in March, there were many challenges for staff, students and families as we collectively and quickly pivoted to remote learning and a new and ever-evolving reality.

The 2019-2020 school year truly was unlike any other in our history.

What was and still continues to be a significant source of pride for me is how in the face of such monumental change, those three words came up time and time again as we described what we were seeing in our community.

Much of what is captured in the 60 pages of our new Annual Report to the Community (ARC) is defined by those three words.

The stories in the 2019-2020 ARC showcase the kindness and incredible collective effort of students, staff and families who are instrumental in helping us continue to thrive under extraordinarily challenging circumstances.

With features about unique convocation celebrations and a collaborative move to an online world to finding ways to stay connected and helping staff stay safe, the resilience of the LRSD community is highlighted in every page of the ARC.

The report also includes stories that celebrate our amazing students, the growth happening in LRSD and a look at how we plan on using our 2020-2021 budget.

You’ll find the themes of our Multi-Year Strategic Plan echoed throughout the ARC as we celebrate the second year of progress in our goal to provide a safe, inclusive and engaging environment, where personal and collective learning are valued, and each one of us reaches our full potential.

Annual Report to the Community 2018-2019

The Annual Report to the Community (ARC) 2018-2019 is now available!

Today, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) officially released their 2018-2019 Annual Report to the Community (ARC).

"Bold and audacious are two words which describe many conversations among the Louis Riel School Board and the LRSD Senior Leadership Team throughout the 2018-2019 school year," said Sandy Nemeth, Louis Riel School Board Chair. "It was also a wonderful period of achievement and success for students, staff and our greater community, as you will see in our ARC."

As Indigenous cultures and teachings continue to guide many conversations and decisions in LRSD, the division looked to the Indigenous Circle of Courage and how its principles of Belonging, Mastery, Independence and Generosity create a whole learner approach to education. These four fundamental principles were incorporated into the annual report to illuminate LRSD's commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment, where personal and collective learning are valued, and each person reaches their full potential.

"I am proud to share our ARC that features many inspiring stories that highlight just a fraction of the achievements and successes of the more than 15,500 students in the care of 2,148 staff across 40 schools in LRSD," said Christian Michalik, LRSD Superintendent. "Readers looking for a bunch of numbers and charts in the report may be disappointed. While it does contain some, our ARC is meant to tell the stories that breathe life into the numbers and the charts, and I believe we've done just that with this report."
