Student Services
The role of the Student Service teachers at Niakwa Place School is to support the development of the whole child. The service delivery model is based on the LRSD core competencies for healthy child development and successful experiences for school. These include the areas of: academic development, behaviour autonomy, social competency, and transition planning for a variety of programs.
Student service teachers teach students through the lens of the SELF (Social Emotional Learning Framework) where students learn to have an awareness of themselves and others. They develop self-management and relationship skills along with responsible decision making.
Early Literacy Intervention
The role of the Early Literacy Intervention teacher is to work with the classroom teachers and provide intensive Literacy programming for students who are working towards building the foundations for literacy. Strategies are provided to families and the classroom for ways to support Early Reading.
