    Teacher Librarian: Mrs. Melvin
    Library Assistant: Mx. Lavoie

The role of the school library at Samuel Burland School is to support teaching and learning goals that ensure students develop as information literate learners. The tools for realizing those goals are designed around active learning environments, access to information sources, and the use of inquiry-based teaching and learning, and collaborative teaching and learning.

All school staff, including the teacher-librarian and library assistant, work together as educational partners to support best practices of school library programs and services within the school learning environment.

The library houses approximately 15,000 items including books, magazines, encyclopedias, teaching and professional development material and videos.

Students may sign out books, book kits, or magazines for the following loan periods:

    1. Kindergarten - 1 item/cycle
    2. Grades 1-8 - 2 items/cycle
    3. Grades 1-8 - 2 additional items for research projects.

Students are responsible to return on time the items they have borrowed.
