What's Happening at Windsor Park Collegiate

This Month

Welcome to Windsor Park Collegiate's NEW Website

We have enjoyed meeting all of the grade 8 students and their parents who will become part of the Windsor Park Community in September. The Grade 8 Transition Day and Grade 8 Parents Open House were well attended and a wonderful opportunity to get to know our newest students. We hear great things from our feeder schools about this new group and we look forward to working with them come the fall.

Our Europe travellers had a wonderful time on their once in a lifetime trip over Spring Break. Although not travelling as far, our guitar students put on terrific performances in the library for our Solo Guitar Night. The Jazz Band did an excellent job at the Jazz Optimist Festival a little earlier.

Our basketball teams had a terrific season. Regardless of the finish, they have represented our school well and have done us proud. We are appreciative of the coaches who volunteer hundreds of hours in preparing our teams for competition. Thanks to all of you.
and ready for the “stretch run” for that last remaining part of the school year.

Great News!!!

Windsor Park Wins Provincial C.M.E. Hovercraft Design Award

The Career Internship Program (CIP) at Windsor Park Collegiate (WPC) with a group of six WPC students has won the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) Discovery Program Hovercraft Competition. The six boys – Cody Skillen, Stephen Friesen, Justin Ballentyne, Cory Larkin, Curtis Schneider, and Christopher Ljungberg – met every noon hour at WPC for three consecutive weeks and sacrificed weekends to sketch designs, create a hovercraft prototype, write a business plan, and rehearse a presentation before a panel of five professionals from the Manufacturing and Engineering sectors on March 11. CIP Program Head, Adriano Magnifico, and CIP Community Liaison Office, Chip Berry acted as advisors to the student team. The winning team attended a Gala Banquet on March 13 at the Convention Centre where they accepted a very distinctive and beautiful award along with bursaries for post high school studies. Many dignitaries were on hand to congratulate the team including the Honourable Andrew Swan, Minister of Competitiveness, Training and Trade; Jayson Myer, President, Manitoba Chapter, CME; Ron Koslowsky, Vice President, Manitoba Chapter, CME; Lawrence Pollard, Pollard Banknote Limited; and Douglas Ruth, Dean, Engineering, University of Manitoba. Congratulations to six WPC students who pushed their education to a new level, and who won a prestigious provincial distinction as a result.
