Grad Fees
It has come to our attention that graduation fees are not posted to many of the students’ accounts. We are working to resolve this issue. If you have already paid the grad fees, disregard this notice. Otherwise, please expect to see this new fee included on your child’s account in the coming days. Please call the school office if you have questions.
Attention Grade 12 Students:

Gowns for Grads names are due March 17, 2026. Message or go see Ms. Barrett if you are participating in the grad dinner and you need support to get a dress. Once we are registered, we will be given an appointment time, and Ms. Barrett will distribute field trip forms with all the information.
Hello Class of 2026,
Here is important scholarship information you should review.
There are four different scholarship applications that you should consider working on over the next month. Here they are:
- The Alan Dick Scholarship ($1000) – Have you grown over the past four years? Can you express your growth as a learner? Are you aware of what field of study you’d like to pursue next year? Graduating students who plan to pursue post-secondary education are eligible to write a letter to the Real Estate Institute of Manitoba sharing this information.

- The Dr. Joseph Anderson Scholarship ($2000) – Have you excelled in the sciences while at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate? Do you plan on pursuing a science-related field at University? If you can answer yes to both questions, you should consider writing a letter to Ms. Catherine Anderson Frumkin expressing why you feel you deserve a Dr. Joseph Anderson Scholarship. There are two scholarships available.

- The Norwood Foundation Scholarships ($ varies) – Do you live in the Norwood Flats or Norwood Grove area? The Norwood Foundation provides several scholarships to students who reside in these areas. The Norwood Foundation selects the recipients for these scholarships. Fill out an application so they can learn more about why you feel you deserve one of their scholarships.

- The Nelson McIntyre Collegiate Scholarship Application ($ varies) – Graduating students who plan to pursue post-secondary education should complete The Nelson McIntyre Collegiate Scholarship Application. There are over 20 different scholarships/awards that are available to graduating students. The criteria for the scholarships/awards varies – anything from school/community involvement to a student who has improved the most over the past four years to the top academic students to a student who is simply a genuinely nice person. The scholarship committee can consider everyone who applies. You may have to download a copy to access it.

Applications are available in this message. They will also be available on the scholarship board (on the second floor hallway bulletin board) starting the week of March 16. Give your completed scholarship application form directly to Ms. Barrett. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION.
Applications are DUE MONDAY, APRIL 27TH before 4:00 PM and can be given to Ms. Barrett. Late applications will not be considered – but early ones will!
If you are interested in applying for scholarships outside of those listed above, I recommend going to www.scholarshipscanada.com . It has a searchable/filterable database of over 44000 scholarships.
ONE LAST THING – GRAD QUIPS:
The other thing you should start to think about is your “grad quip.” As you receive your diploma, a staff member will read out your name and something you would like said as you receive your diploma. In the next couple of months, you will submit your quip to Ms. Arnaud (Carley). It should be something you would like to share with your family, friends, and fellow graduates. It only needs to be one sentence or a couple of sentences – you might choose to mention your future plans, a favourite quote, or a thank you to someone who has influenced or supported you.
We are looking forward to convocation which is a moment to celebrate all that you have accomplished over the past 12 years.
Sincerely,
Ms. Barrett

Join the skills workshop on Mondays at lunch in room 113.

All are welcome!
Academic Labs
A reminder to all NMC students, if you are looking for some extra help with schoolwork or need to catch up on overdue assignments before the end of term, you are strongly encouraged to attend our Academic Labs during late start Wednesdays. The labs will run from 8:30-9:30am and there are staff members present to assist you.
Language Lab Volunteers Needed
We are looking for NMC students who are comfortable speaking English to partner up with students who are looking for some extra practice with their language skills. We need people to join our Language Lab on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-9:30am. The hours you spend volunteering can be put towards a volunteer credit. If you are interested, please reach out to your Student Services teacher and let them know.
Controlled Access Procedures:
As part of our updated controlled access measures, please remember:
- Everyone must enter through the front doors. Staff will not open exterior doors for students or visitors.
- All exterior doors will remain locked during school hours. Families, visitors, and community members must use the video-enabled doorbell at the main entrance.
- Visitors must sign in at the office, receive a badge, and sign out when they leave.
- Students should exit the building by 4:00 PM unless participating in a supervised activity.
These procedures support a safe, welcoming, single point of entry for our school community. Thank you for helping maintain a secure environment for all.
