  • Who We Are

Nelson McIntyre Collegiate is a Grade 9 - 12 High School in the Louis Riel School Division with a mandate to reimagine high school for the 21st century.  Nelson McIntyre Collegiate has developed a new Project Based Learning (PBL) model of schooling that started with its Grade 9 students in 2016-2017, and adding a grade every year until 2019-2020 where Grade 12 was added.  The graduating class of 2020 is the first class to complete all four years in our new model.  We are pleased with the results.  In June 2020, this graduating class earned over $71,000 in scholarships in a class of 68 students.

This model affords students an opportunity to incorporate authentic deeper learning opportunities into their studies. It focuses on transferable 21st century skills that we call the 6Cs (Fullan, 2014).  These are:  Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Citizenship, and Character.  We have added a 7th C to the 6Cs with one of our own—Career Development—delivered to our students through Weeks without Walls.
