The Student Services team at Hastings School works to support classroom teachers and communities by addressing the diverse needs of the student population. Wherever needed, student services staff work to develop appropriate programming for individual students or groups. Some of the responsibilities of Student Services personnel include assessment, developing academically appropriate resources, early reading intervention, counselling, individual assistance, group facilitation, and collaboration with classroom teachers.

The Student Services staff at Hastings liaises with their colleagues in the Clinical Services Team to create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when necessary and support struggling learners by surrounding them with a capable team of adults which might include an educational assistant, the school psychologist or an occupational therapist. The student services team is also responsible for funding applications to the government of Manitoba based on needs of individual learners in the school.
