  • Student Support Services

In keeping with the Manitoba Education, and Advanced Learning (MEAL) mandate for all school divisions, the Louis Riel School Division has adopted the provincial Inclusive Education philosophy and the recommendations elaborated in the MECY 2006 document  Appropriate Educational Programming in Manitoba - Standards for Student Services.

Appropriate educational programming starts in the classroom with the student, the students' parent(s), and the students' teacher(s). Student-specific planning is a process that guides educators in identifying student needs, providing programming supports, and monitoring student progress.

"Inclusion is a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel accepted, valued and safe. An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members. Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access to the benefits of citizenship."

In Manitoba, we embrace inclusion as a means of enhancing the well-being of every member of the community. By working together, we strengthen our capacity to provide the foundation for a richer future for all of us.
