It is my pleasure to share that Robert Chartrand will be joining the Louis Riel School Division as the Acting Assistant Superintendent Supporting Instructional, Student, and Clinical Services effective September 9, 2026.

Robert has a Bachelor of Education from Brandon University and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. He has vast experience in a variety of grade levels spanning early years through to adult education in both regular and alternative settings such as the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre and Stony Mountain Penitentiary. Robert has also worked in northern Manitoba and throughout the Northwest Territories prior to the establishment of Nunavut.

Over the course of his career, Robert has served as a Vice-Principal, Principal, Director of Aboriginal Education, and District Superintendent in Winnipeg School Division, followed by his role as Area Superintendent in Frontier School Division. He retired from Frontier School Division in August 2026. In addition to his extensive instructional and administrative experience, Robert has a comprehensive understanding of student services and clinical services. He is also a past president of the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents.

Robert's family is from the Métis community of St. Laurent, where he spent most of his childhood when not in school: his family residence was in the heart of St. Vital.

Robert has agreed to serve in this role on an interim basis, providing continuity and support for schools, students, and programming, while we undertake the search for a permanent appointment this fall.

Please join me in welcoming Robert Chartrand to the LRSD community!
