Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2026
As part of National Volunteer Week (April 19 to 25 2026), Louis Riel School Division is celebrating the many ways volunteers strengthen our division through care, connection, and generosity. From classrooms to community spaces, volunteers give their time and energy to support families and help create a more inclusive and welcoming division. The René Deleurme Centre (RDC) benefits year-round from the commitment of frequent volunteers, including partners from Sysco and dedicated community members who support The Food Depot, helping ensure families have access to food and essential supports.
In the spirit of generosity and community, a group of Louis Riel School Division adult caregivers observing Ramadan came together at the René Deleurme Centre on Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, to assemble 73 Eid hampers. The atmosphere was one of collaboration and care as everyone worked together in preparation for the upcoming celebrations.
Louis Riel School Division Settlement Connector Iftu Ibrahim helped ensure the hampers included culturally appropriate foods, such as halal chicken. Sharing food with family and community is a cherished part of celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which took place on March 20, and these hampers helped families mark the occasion with joy and connection.
