Good evening Shamrock Families,
I am writing to you this evening to provide an update on the power outage that occurred this afternoon. It appears that the electrical issue we experienced is more complex than initial anticipated. The school’s main power panel has sustained extensive damage, and the Manitoba Hydro transformer supplying the school has also been affected. At this time, the school remains without power. Workers will be on the scene to repair the problem, but because of the nature of the repair, we do not expect electricity to be restored until Tuesday.
As a result, Shamrock School will be closed Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15.
This also means that the daycares will not be operating out of Shamrocks School on those days. Daycare operators have been informed of the school closure and have indicated that they will be communicating with families directly about the status of their services for the next two days.
I know this news will be deeply disappointing for many of our students, particularly those who have worked so hard preparing for musical performances scheduled for today and tomorrow. Please know that over the next two days we will work to reschedule these performances as soon as possible. Classroom teachers will also be reaching out to students during this time to check in, offer support, and answer any questions they may have.
We are grateful that everyone remained safe today, and we will continue to place safety at the forefront of all decisions.
If you need to contact the school, please email Shamrock.Office@lrsd.net, and we will respond as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this unexpected situation.
Cathy-Ann Winters
Principal of Shamrock School
