Orange Shirt Day 2020

September 30, 2020

Wednesday, September 30, was Orange Shirt Day; a day to promote awareness about Residential Schools and those affected by them.  All students and staff were encouraged to wear something orange with the intent of acknowledging this important part of Canadian history. In addition to wearing orange, to ensure that students had a good understanding of the important meaning of Orange Shirt Day, our staff found various ways to share important information, as well as activities to do, to further everyone's thinking.  It was amazing to hear students, from all grades, participate in various conversations related to this important part of our history.

RT @Miss_Girling: Our first writing project makes my heart full. We read “Your Name is a Song” by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow, and made our names into songs. Then, students told stories of where their names come from (and practiced our cursive, too). Way to go 2/3s. #SageCreekLRSD ❤️
