Site visit on March 23rd

May 10, 2017

On Thursday, March 23rd, some LRSD Trustees alongside Superintendent Duane Brothers as well as other guests had a wonderful opportunity to receive a tour of the worksite at École Sage Creek School.  We were, once again, very impressed with the continued progress since our last visit.  The tour provided us a chance to see the neighbourhood and learning commons, the flexible spaces with large sliding or garage doors (as shown in some of the pictures below), the amount of natural light coming through the many windows, etc...  Many tradespeople were working hard to ensure that our amazing school is ready near the end of May.  See below for some pictures taken during the tour.

This picture, taken near the main entrance of the school, includes Trustee Tom Parker, Trustee Sandy Nemeth (Vice-Chairperson of the Board) as well as Superintendent Duane Brothers.

Gym stage door 1.JPG

The three pictures show different views of the gymnasium including the large moveable wall that separates the gym from the band room.  With the wall lowered (as pictured), we will be able to host Physical Education classes and Band classes at the same time.  When it is time to present concerts, plays, etc... the wall opens up to allow for band room to double as the gymnasium stage!

This picture shows the Band Room (the large moveable wall is just to the right of the picture).

Corner Classroom Yellow.JPG

This picture shows the amazing natural light in one of our classrooms.

Classroom Large door opening.JPG

This is a picture is taken from inside one of the classrooms and shows the large opening facing part of a Neighborhood Commons.  All Grade 1-8 classes are accessed by a "normal" door facing their Neighborhood Commons.  Additionally, one of the classrooms in each neighborhood will also have a large sliding door opening up into it's Neighbourhood Commons creating an even more flexible area.

Art room Garage Door.JPG

The picture was taken from inside the Art room and shows a "garage door opening" separating the Art room from the classroom next door.  Depending on what students are doing in the classroom or Art room, the door can be opened to ensure flexible use of the spaces.
