I Read Canadian Day

February 19, 2020

Each year, we celebrate I Love to Read Week with a special emphasis on promoting a love of reading in our school. Throughout the past week, students and staff participated in various activities which promoted reading, writing, and sharing. Activities were centered on, I Read Canadian day, and included: Guess the book in the jar, a Canadian version of Lingo Bingo, a Book Ladder to count how many books our school can read and two Drop Everything and Read times. To celebrate the inaugural I Read Canadian Day, students and staff gathered in the gymnasium with a Canadian book for a Drop Everything and Read time.

"Writing is a bit like swimming. You learn writing by doing it and you learn swimming by doing it. Nobody learns how to swim by reading a book about swimming and nobody learns how to write by reading a book about writing. If you want to learn how to write, write a lot and you will get better at it."— Robert Munsch
