Dear Darwin School,
On behalf of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, we would like to extend our appreciation to you and your students for participating in the 25th annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition, as part of Provincial Engineering and Geoscience Week.
We are thrilled that your school entered 87 bridges and that 232 students had the opportunity to put their engineering skills to the test. The bridges tested by your students held a total of 3,189.6 kilograms towards the combined weight held of 14,036.70 kilograms. Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba committed to donating $2 per kilogram and were thrilled to give $28,073.40 to Winnipeg Harvest. The donation will help in feeding approximately 150 families for a whole year.
In normal circumstances, the eleven classes that participated from your school would have qualified for a pizza party, however since schools are now closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in consideration of the increased demand to the Emergency Food Line, we have made a donation on behalf of Darwin School to Winnipeg Harvest. Your $1,100 donation will buy fourteen large hampers to feed a family of four as well as two portions of 10 lbs. of food for a child or at-risk adult.
Please extend the Association's thanks to your students for their participation and for becoming Harvest Heroes! We have also included a thank you letter from Winnipeg Harvest which you can share with your students and their families.
We look forward to having your students participate in the 2021 Spaghetti Bridge Competition – if you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ManitobaSpaghettiBridge/ to stay up to date.
