More information about The Canada Homestay Network:
CHN is a not-for-profit society dedicated to making the world a smaller place through intercultural exchange in homestay. CHN currently works with many public school districts, colleges and universities, and language schools across Canada. They bring many years of experience in all aspects of homestay. CHN shares our vision that homestay is an integral part of international students' experiences in Canada, and the standards for program delivery must be of high quality to meet the needs of our students and other partners. CHN offers unlimited support to agents, students, and host families in multiple languages 24/7. We are confident that you will enjoy continuing to work with LRSD and CHN together.
Transitioning from our LRSD Homestay Program to CHN:
Beginning in August, we will launch a transition process that will allow LRSD and CHN to work as an integrated homestay management team. Our aim is to preserve and enhance the strengths of LRSD's approach to the total student experience. Our team will work very closely with CHN, and will remain involved in the homestay program. We anticipate the transition will be fully complete in late fall of 2021.
For September 2021, there is no change to the registration process. LRSD has already placed students for this fall, and we do not expect any changes to those confirmed placements. CHN will be the support for students after arrival for any homestay issues for the remainder of their time in Winnipeg. There will be no changes to our posted homestay fees and services for the 2021-2022 school year.
For future semesters, agents, families, and other partners are invited to submit applications for homestay directly to CHN. Commencing July of 2022, CHN will invoice agents, families, and other partners directly for homestay placements and services, separate from academic fees.
