If you are interested in in the Full Year, Semester, or Short Term Program, please select whether you would like to be a part of the LRSD Homestay Program or have your own Independent Living Arrangement while completing the online application form. For students applying for grades 1 to 8, the Louis Riel School Division will only consider students who will be accompanied by, and live with, their legal parent.
**International students joining the program at the grade 12 level, who are interested in pursuing a Manitoba High School Diploma, must complete two semesters.
Step 1:
Submit your application online. Only complete applications will be considered. A $200 application fee is due with the submission of the application.
Step 2:
A Letter of Acceptance will be issued. Please note that acceptance is subject to the review of your application by the Program Director.
Step 3:
The full tuition and medical insurance fees are due 2 months prior to program start. Failure to pay all fees on time may result in the student's withdrawal from the LRSD International Student Program, including the cancellation of the acceptance letter and reporting to IRCC.
Step 4:
The Study Permit is due before program start. Requests for a deferral, due to delayed visa processing, can be sent to internationalstudent@lrsd.net.
Please check the average visa processing time in your country. Check out the Citizenship & Immigration Canada website at cic.gc.ca/english/information/times /temp/students.asp prior to submitting your application.
Step 5:
Custodianship
Our Program Director provides custodianship for students who will be living with a homestay family arranged by Louis Riel School Division, at no additional cost. Students can also reside in an independent living arrangement, with either the parents or a custodian. A custodian must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, must be over the age of 25 and must live in Winnipeg.
1. One document from the PARENT appointing a custodian in Winnipeg.
2. One document from the CUSTODIAN accepting custodianship responsibilities.
Each document must be translated into English and notarized by a lawyer or notary public in their home country.
You can find copies of this form online at:

***Students attending Kindergarten—grade 8, must live with a parent or someone who has been verified to be a family member or family friend in Louis Riel School Division catchment for the duration of their studies. If the parent is living with their child, no custodial document is required.
