Citizenship

Page Content

In our school, we strive to teach our students the importance of active citizenship by embracing diversity as integral to building a democratic society.

In our work, we help young people to fully participate in our democracy. Beyond knowing about Parliament or how to vote, our young people need to be able to discuss, inquire, advocate, negotiate, dialogue, compromise, and care.

To achieve our goals and help shape responsible, conscientious global citizens, our focus on citizenship goes beyond the classroom and into the community. We need to instil in our students a passion for being responsible to themselves, others, and the environment.

All of our grade 5/6 students will be visiting the City of Winnipeg, Louis Riel Library on Dakota St. over the next few weeks to apply for a library card and check out books. Another great activity to do over the summer. https://t.co/2Lbgxvy3sK

A great performance by the Dakota Pep Band that included many former Highbury students. It is nice to incrementally get back to some of our typical school activities of previous years. https://t.co/Mq7YHO0ZBG
