Who We Are

Samuel Burland School is a Kindergarten - Grade 8 school located in the suburb of St. Vital in the city of Winnipeg. We are part of the Louis Riel School Division. We have a proud tradition of excellence in the areas of: academics, leadership, social justice, music and sport. Our 477 students, 58 staff and families who are currently an integral Samuel Burland believe in actively supporting the vision and mission. Burland C.A.R.E.S.

Our school mascot is the Bulldog! Characteristics of the bulldog include their legendary patience, and calm demeanour. In daily experiences of demonstrating how we care for each other, Burland students grow to develop: citizenship, attitude, respect, responsibility, empathy. These are attributes which are necessary in the workplace and in being an active member of society.

Our active Parents’ Association along with the vibrant committee groups are a testament to the school’s supportive community. Our combination of rich and varied curricular and co-curricular activities is a catalyst for student success.

Mission

It is our mission to promote growth and development which will empower each student to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for developing his or her full potential as a responsible citizen.

To help achieve the goals stated in our mission, we strive to foster a stimulating, sensitive, nurturing and fulfilling environment for all Burland students and staff, and endeavour to maintain an open, responsive and positive relationship with parents as they are valued partners in the educational process.

Philosophy

Samuel Burland School is dedicated to providing high-quality education to all of its students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our focus is on the total development of each child—academically, intellectually, physically, socially and personally. This sense of purpose is integrated into all aspects of school life.
