At René Deleurme Centre, sewing became a universal language — one that brought together Indigenous, newcomer, and non-Indigenous community members to create a beautiful Starblanket.
This inspiring effort is a true celebration of unity, demonstrating how shared experiences and teamwork can bridge diverse cultures and foster deep connections. The finished blanket is rife with significance and meaning in every square and stitch, including tributes to residential school survivors and the children that did not make it home.
It stands as a wonderful testament to the power of bringing people together to learn, grow, and support one another. Please take a moment to listen to what some participants had to say in our video, Star People: Stitching Together Community.
