    Neil and his wife have resided in River Park South since 1983. Their children attended local public schools. Neil retired from the University of Manitoba where he was employed as a consultant. Previously he worked as a consultant and project leader for the Department of Education in Manitoba and as an administrator. Earlier in his career Neil worked as a teacher, resource teacher, school psychologist and coordinator in the St. Boniface and Louis Riel school divisions. He was also a sessional instructor at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg for a number of years. Neil was involved with the Manitoba School Improvement Program (MSIP).

    Neil coached soccer, baseball and hockey at the Dakota Community Club and was a member of the parent advisory council at the school his children attended. He also served as a trustee, vice chair and board chair on the former St. Vital School Board from 1995 to 2002. Neil believes that schools play a vital role in the communities they serve.
