Today is Outdoor Classroom Day!
Outdoor learning engages students and teachers with exciting opportunities to explore all subjects in new and creative ways through hands-on learning in an expansive and extended environment.
Outdoor Classroom Day started in England in 2012. By 2015, over 600 schools from 15 countries were involved!
Since then, Outdoor Classroom Day has been a global initiative to get students and teachers into outdoor learning environments, incorporating play and nature-based exercises into their educational practices. In 2017, over 2 million students from thousands of schools around the world participated in Outdoor Classroom Day!
We encourage teachers and families in LRSD to consider the outdoors and land-based learning opportunities all year long. If you’re outside taking part today, make sure to share your outdoor learning with the hashtag #OutdoorClassroomDay!
