On Friday, Sept. 25, the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer announced the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region will be moved to the Orange: Restricted level under the province's Pandemic Response System effective Monday, Sept. 28.
Health orders under this new level are being applied in a focused manner and do not change any of the measures related to schools or child care centres. This means that schools remain in the Yellow (Caution) level and continue to work under the same public health safety protocols that have been place since the start of the school year.
In the Louis Riel School Division, we have implemented multiple measures in our schools to help ensure staff, students and families are safe. These include:
- physical distancing of two metres (six feet) in all learning spaces
- the use of cohorts
- clearly articulated self-screening and start-of-day protocols
- enhanced cleaning protocols
- the appropriate use of masks in schools and on school buses
The safety and well-being of our community continues to be a top priority as is our commitment to providing an engaging, equitable, and sustainable education to our learners.
