Ojibway Language Exposure Program at Darwin

November 30, 2018

The Kindergarten class at Darwin School is participating in the Ojibway Language Exposure Program this school year. Twice per cycle, an itinerant instructor with Louis Riel School Division visits our classroom and brings activities, songs, games and crafts that introduce Ojibway vocabulary in a fun way! The students enjoy the lessons immensely and are proud to learn and practice new Ojibway words. It has been incredible to see the speed the children are learning new vocabulary, as well as their confidence to try something new. This is one example of how our youngest learners at Darwin School are guided along the path towards reconciliation.

While the sun may be shining today, it looks like there's nothing but rain in the forecast for tomorrow. 🌧️☂️ That means the Folk Dance in the Park scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 will be rescheduled for Friday, May 24th.

Meet Randi. She's one of the seven members of the Oyoyocik Student Leadership Group who travelled to an archipelago called Haida Gwaii in BC. They laughed, they learned, they discovered culture and they discovered themselves. Check out the trip blog: http://ow.ly/WLSZ50ubUSr
