May has been proclaimed Music Month in Manitoba!
To celebrate this, every week, a music teacher and student from an LRSD school will share their personal perspective on why music matters to them.
Jennifer Engbrecht | Music Specialist | Early years:
"I became a music teacher because I love sharing my passion for music with others. I absolutely love the enthusiasm, creativity, and energy students have for learning new music and composing their own. It is so important to me that they learn that they can create their own music, and have music be a part of the rest of their lives in any way they want. During my time as a music teacher, I've seen the many important ways that music aids with literacy, numeracy, brain development for many learning areas, wellness, community, citizenship and so many other elements, because music is an integral part of many areas of learning and life.
Grace | Student | École St. Germain:
"Every time I listen to music or sing, it makes me feel free. I also love making and dancing to the music!"
