Last week, staff at Frontenac School heard the food bank at St. Bartholomew Anglican Church was in need of volunteers. A number of families from the school's community use the food bank located in the church, which is just steps away from Frontenac School.
When Margaret Lapenskie, Community Liaison Worker, heard the news, she put out a call for help as she wanted to organize a school response.
While she received an overwhelming number of offers to volunteer, the food bank only needed four people, so Margaret was joined by Elena Stangherlin, Teacher-Librarian, Nancy Lavergne and Shelly Karpiak, Educational Assistants, for a morning of helping those in need.
After volunteering at the church, the group delivered food hampers to several Frontenac families.
“It was a good morning and it was great being together to help those in our school community. We will continue to support them however we can over the weeks and months ahead,” said Lapenskie.
