Today we mark the International Day of Education (January 24), a celebration of the role of education for peace and development. This year’s theme is ‘Recover and Revitalize Education for the COVID-19 Generation.'
According to the United Nations, the closure of schools, universities and other learning institutions and programs has affected the lives of 1.6 billion students in over 190 countries.
In the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD), staff, students and families have shown an incredible amount of resilience throughout the uncertainty and have truly embodied the pillars of our Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP). Stories of innovation, caring and collaboration
can be seen in every corner of LRSD.
The pandemic has also amplified inequalities locally and globally that we will continue to address. As always, we will look to our MYSP for guidance as we turn our focus to
recovering and turning our lessons learned into positive and lasting change.
