Ground to Break on LRSD Community Field

We are excited to announce that construction is set to begin on the much-anticipated community field at Dakota Collegiate!

We would like to thank the City of Winnipeg led by Councillor Brian Mayes, Councillor Mike Paktakan and members of the business community including many alumni of Dakota Collegiate. Without their dedication this project would not have been possible.

The field is designed for mixed educational and community use. The project will involve construction of an artificial turf playing field, mini-soccer area, basketball court, beach volleyball pit and an Indigenous education area designed by Rayleen Dutka, Human Ecology teacher at Dakota Collegiate.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we received in funding for the first phase of construction. Both public and private sources have stepped up to build positive partnerships as we all work together towards building more opportunities for the families in our community. The City of Winnipeg, Murray Automotive Group, Pinnacle HR Solutions, Qualico, The Myron and Marion Klysh family, the Winnipeg Foundation, the Manitoba Cricket Association and numerous citizen donors have all played an essential role in helping to make this dream come true!

The new complex will be accessible to everyone, from students to families, offering a safe space for the community to come together and participate in a wide variety of sports and outdoor events.

Thank you again to everyone who has been a part of this process. For more on the LRSD Community Field, see the video below!
