French Immersion Expansions at École Guyot

We're happy to announce that, with support from the Government of Manitoba, there will be two new classrooms added to École Guyot. This expansion enables students to stay at the school until the end of Grade 8, improving French Immersion opportunities in LRSD.

According to government calculations, Guyot will have 17 regular classrooms and two kindergarten classrooms and will be able to accommodate 475 students from kindergarten to Grade 8 once the additions are complete.

Guyot is currently a K-6 school that had a September 2016 enrolment of 329 students with the capacity to accommodate 360 students. As French Immersion enrolment increases in LRSD, the addition of these new classes is a positive step in helping the Division grow capacity.

The new expansions at Guyot are one of many necessary steps in ensuring that LRSD can provide the appropriate space for our growing communities. Additions to Collège Jeanne-Sauvé, an additional school in Sage Creek, further expansions at Guyot and a request for permanent classroom additions to Ecole Van Belleghem are just some of the projects essential to helping the Division's infrastructure maintain our increasing population.

French Immersion enrolment in LRSD is growing significantly. Learn more about our proposed plans for expansions in the Division to meet the needs of our community.

We look forward to working with the government to make these changes possible in the near future.
