The ever-changing circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged dynamic solutions. Many of you may have noticed one of those 'solutions' popping up on the fields of three Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) schools.
The division has rented the outdoor tents from Weatherwise Tent Rentals so schools that do not have access to their gym or other suitable spaces can use the tent for physical education classes.
This collaboration included the City of Winnipeg which granted an expedited permit process and allowed us to set up the tents on their property at no additional cost.
Over the next few weeks, the Senior Leadership Team will talk with the leadership team in each of the three schools to see if these tents have been a worthwhile investment and could work for other school communities in the division, too. However, innovative planning will continue to be necessary, especially during the winter months, to encourage outdoor learning and teaching.
See how students are embracing the winter weather in these tents by reading these stories created by two Winnipeg news outlets:
Stay safe and be well,
