As we move through the beginning of our 2020-2021 school year, and the second year of our Multi-Year Strategic Plan that has the Indigenous Circle of Courage and its principles of Belonging, Independence, Mastery and Generosity at its core, we will continue to find guidance in those principles as we move forward as a community during the pandemic. One thing we can depend upon during this period of uncertainty is the unwavering commitment of our Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) Senior Leadership Team along with every member of the LRSD staff. They are the definition of hard work and dedication to public education and to every student, family and community member they serve.
Challenging times bring out the strongest and best leaders and this crisis has brought out the best in our entire LRSD community as people throughout the division show their resilience, determination and care for others.
I'd like to extend a huge thank you to our families and students for showing patience and trust through these unprecedented times.
As I take on the role of Louis Riel School Division Board of Trustee Chair, I want to thank Trustee Sandy Nemeth for her dedication and hard work during her recent term as Chair. Trustee Nemeth has worked incredibly hard to ensure strong governance as we navigated new territory.
I also welcome Trustee Pamela Kolochuk to her new role as Vice-Chair. Trustee Kolochuk brings a wealth of professional experience, passion and commitment to community engagement to her new position on the Board.
Your elected school board serve on the following three standing Board committees:
Trustee Vadeboncoeur, Chair, with Trustees Josie Landry and Robert Page
Trustee Parker, Chair, with Trustee Cindy Turner as a member (Trustee Nemeth as alternate for Trustee Turner).
Trustee Nemeth, Chair, with Trustees Kolochuk, Chris Sigurdson, and Turner as members.
The Board also has members who serve on the Riel-Evate Foundation Committee, which is a school community foundation with Trustee Nemeth as Chair, and Trustee Tom Parker as a member.
Collectively, the Board is committed to continue providing and ensuring open and transparent governance in LRSD. As Chair, I look forward to the opportunities that lay ahead and know that when we work together to find solutions, no challenge is too great.
Chair, Louis Riel School Division Board of Trustees
