In the 2020-2021 school year, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) is making and/or supporting approximately $9.4 million of investments in infrastructure. This includes a combination of provincial and divisional investments, as well as contributions from the City of Winnipeg, Parent Advisory Councils and private donors.
The Capital Projects Report 2021-2022 provides details on proposed capital projects in LRSD schools and buildings. Several capital project requests were received from each school. Each request was reviewed with school administration and estimated costs for each project were prepared. Capital projects are prioritized and recommended for Manitoba government approval using the following criteria:
- Premature systems failure
- Planned systems obsolescence
- Building improvement requests
The Expanded Capital Support Program Proposal outlines projects that require minimal design and are essentially ready for construction.
In both reports, a handful of the projects listed have been approved by the Manitoba government and are currently in progress; however, the majority are still subject to Manitoba government budget approvals.
