WPC Medical Career Exploration Students Conduct their Own Research

May 9, 2019
The Medical Career Exploration Program students from Windsor Park Collegiate spent last week at the St. Boniface Hospital's Albrechtsen Research Centre.  The grade 10 MCEP students worked with stem cells using current ideas and approaches in medical science.  They learned how research is essential to furthering our understanding of stem cell function.

Our students were able to design and run their own experiment on bone marrow stem cells.  They collected data measuring  the effect of vape pen vapour on those stem cells, and returned to school with their raw data ready for analysis.

The Winnipeg Free Press was also there to record the students at work:

Yesterday, @guyotLRSD brought some cheer to students in Southdale, Island Lakes and Royalwood with a car parade! Staff smiled and waved from decorated cars and bikes as a way to reconnect with students at a distance. https://t.co/lqfH8qRxiF
