It is my pleasure to announce that Megan Vankoughnett has been appointed Assistant Superintendent, Student & Clinical Services, effective Nov. 23, 2026. The Board of Trustees confirmed her appointment at a Regular Board Meeting on Oct. 20, 2026.
Megan began her teaching career in the Louis Riel School Division in 2006 as a Kindergarten teacher at Lavallee School. She went on to spend three years supporting students across the division’s elementary schools as an itinerant support teacher before returning to a classroom teacher role at St. George in 2010. While at St. George, Megan also served as an Early Reading Intervention teacher and a student services teacher.
In 2016, Megan moved into school leadership as the vice-principal of Dakota Collegiate. After three years at Dakota, she joined École Sage Creek School as vice-principal, a role she held for three years. She then became the principal of J.H. Bruns Collegiate before moving into her current role as Divisional Principal in 2025.
Megan holds a Bachelor of Education, as well as two Post-Baccalaureate Diplomas focused on inclusive special education, literacy, and counselling. She completed her Master of Education in 2016 and hopes to continue her learning through doctoral studies in Education.
Megan is dedicated to advocacy for inclusion and finding entry points for all learners. Her experience across classroom teaching, student services, school administration and divisional leadership brings a broad perspective to this new role.
Please join me in congratulating Megan on her appointment and wishing her every success as she takes on this leadership role.
