Learning in LRSD continues to expand far beyond classroom walls. Through the International Student Program (ISP) and Cultural Enrichment opportunities, students are building relationships, curiosity, and a deep sense of global belonging.

This year, LRSD welcomed 167 international secondary students from 27 countries, representing 22 languages, alongside 50 students in post-secondary and technical pathways. Behind these numbers are real connections—supported by 79 homestay families and strengthened by an 83 per cent increase in engagement through @lrsdglobal.

But what matters most is what these experiences make possible.

Choosing to Stay, Choosing to Belong

Across our schools, students are not just visiting—they are choosing to remain part of LRSD:

  • Many students who arrived for a single semester asked to extend to a full year, and most followed through
  • Some who explored other provinces chose to return to LRSD to graduate
  • Others requested to remain with their host families, highlighting the strength of those relationships

These choices speak to something deeper than program success. They reflect a sense of connection, care, and belonging that students feel in our schools and communities.

Pathways with Purpose

At the Louis Riel Arts & Technology Centre (LRATC), students are building real-world futures:

  • Enrolment has stabilized at 50 students annually, supported by expanded provincial approvals
  • Students are accessing technical and vocational programs with clear pathways to employment
  • In Early Childhood Education, more than 20 per cent of ISP students secured employment before graduation

This is learning that connects directly to independence and opportunity.

Learning Through Exchange and Experience

Global learning is not one-directional. LRSD students are also stepping out into the world:

  • Over 100 students applied for international exchanges
  • Forty-five students, representing all seven high schools, were selected
  • Exchanges span Japan, Germany, France, Spain, and Brazil
  • A strong focus ensures diverse participation across grade levels and backgrounds

These experiences deepen understanding, challenge perspectives, and foster relationships that last well beyond the trip itself.

More Than Numbers

What stands out most is not the scale of the program, but the stories behind it.

Students choosing to stay.

Families opening their homes.

Graduates leaving with both credentials and a sense of direction.

Young people, here and abroad, seeing themselves as part of something bigger.

This is LRSD Go Global in action—a reflection of a system that values belonging, learning, independence, and generosity, both locally and around the world.
