To celebrate Poetry Month, Mme Doerksen’s Grade 4/5 classroom dove into the wonderful world of words! Students explored different types of poems and discovered how poets play with rhythm, rhyme, and sound. One big favorite was alliteration, and what better way to practice than by inventing outrageously fun ice cream flavours? From Cocoa Cherry Chocolate to Mango Marmalade Meringue and Sweet Strawberry Saskatoon, the room was buzzing with laughter, creativity, and some seriously imaginative ideas. Along the way, students learned how choosing just the right words can make language come alive. Poetry has never been so sweet!
