Growing Reconciliation Together
In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our Grade 4 and 6 students took part in a meaningful activity focused on reconciliation in Canada. The Grade 6 students began by brainstorming words, ideas, and symbols that they felt represented reconciliation, such as respect, kindness, healing, peace, learning, and unity. They partnered with our Grade 4 Middle Immersion students to bring these ideas to life. Together, they created individual hearts featuring their chosen words and images. The hearts were then planted outside the front of our school in the shape of one large heart, creating a meaningful display for our school community.
This collaborative activity gave students an opportunity to reflect on what reconciliation means and how we can contribute to it through our everyday actions. By learning and creating together, our students helped share a message of hope, respect, and continued commitment to reconciliation.
