Writing piece by Grade 3 students
This year, in Social Studies, we are studying about the world. One of the countries we are learning about is Japan. As part of this unit, the two grade 3 classes went to the Japanese Cultural Centre last week. First, the senseis (the teachers) showed us how to write our names with ink in Japanese. We wrote our names on a headband to wear. Next, we practiced a dance called Tanko Bushi. We danced in a circle, wearing kimonos. One of our favourite activities was origami. We made a bunny, a piano and even a pterodactyl! Before heading back to school, we had some scrumptious, spicy rice crackers and some unique fruit punch. We all said “Itadakimasu” which means “thank you for the food”. Overall, our class enjoyed our morning and learned a lot. Arigato!
