How to make Bannock
Grade 4/5 students in Room 15 made their own bannock and ate like voyageurs! A little bit of math was involved before the mixing, baking, and eating. Students learned how to convert units of measurement and triple a recipe by multiplying. Many wanted seconds and agreed that jam was a great topping! Bake your own bannock at home: 2 cups flour, 2tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt, 3Tbsp oil, ¾ cup water. Mix all ingredients and stir until combined. Flatten into circles 1 inch high, place on parchment lined baking sheet, and poke dough with a fork. Bake at 400ﹾF for 20 minutes. Enjoy it plain, with butter, jam, or honey. Bon appétit!
