Grade 9

Science 10F (SC10F) 

This course provides an overview of various branches of science. Topics included for study are: 

  • Lab safety
  • Physics: How is electrical energy created and distributed?
  • Chemistry: What is matter made of?
  • Biology: How can genetics help explain evolution?

Additional information: The use of chemical resistant goggles is mandatory when performing high school lab activities that involve chemicals. As such, all students will be charged a goggle fee when they register at J.H. Bruns. Goggles will be provided to each Grade 9 student at the beginning of their Science 10F course. Implementation of the new Grade 9 Science curriculum at J.H. Bruns will begin in September of 2025. Grade 10

Science 20F (SC20F)

Prerequisite: Science 10F 

The Grade 10 Science curriculum is designed to help students understand how different types of matter interact, deepen their knowledge of Earth and its place in the Universe, and build awareness of how human activities impact the environment. Topics include:

  • Matter
  • Force
  • Earth Science
  • Space Science
  • Life Systems
  • Evolution

Additional Information: This is a required credit for the Province of Manitoba and forms the basis of future study in the Sciences. The use of chemical resistant goggles is mandatory when performing high school lab activities that involve chemicals. As such, any newly registered students and / or those that lost their goggles after receiving a pair in Grade 9 should purchase a pair from their teacher.
