    ​​​Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) is a school district in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Cana​da.

    Map of Winnipeg and LRSD.jpgOur division is named after Louis Riel who was a political figure in the history of Manitoba. Louis Riel lived from 1844-1885 and was involved in the Founding of the Province of Manitoba.

    Today we have more than 14,000 students who receive modern, quality education in many subject areas, taught in either English or French – or both!

    Our division consists of 40 schools, including eight high schools. We have more than 1,500 professional and teaching staff and also offer accredited post-secondary education through the Arts and Technology Centre in a number of different programs.

    Our schools are known for their full libraries, well-equipped computer facilities, science laboratories, theatres, gymnasiums, music/band rooms and practical arts facilities.

    High school students have the opportunity to take optional special interest courses in subjects from Spanish to Business to Law.

    All of our schools embrace the use of technology and recognize the importance of physical education.

    Our division borders the Red River and we have many parks, green spaces and small lakes right in our schools' backyards.
