LRSD Strongly Recommends Masks
At the Public Board Meeting on Tuesday, December 20, based on a recommendation by the Superintendent, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) Board of Trustees passed a motion to strongly recommend the wearing of masks in all divisional facilities, including buses. This response is based on the increased absence rates we are seeing in schools due to illness.
When we return to schools in the new year, all students, staff and visitors to our schools and facilities, including buses, are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Schools will provide masks to those who need them while supplies last; however, we encourage our community to bring them from home.
All members of the LRSD are also encouraged to follow the fundamentals as outlined by Manitoba Public Health including:
- Accessing vaccinations for the seasonal flu and COVID-19
- Staying home when sick
- Practicing frequent hand washing and respiratory etiquette
- Performing routine cleaning and disinfection protocols with a focus on high-touch surfaces and common areas, including washrooms
