  • Michelle Jean-Paul Appointed Assistant Superintendent

On Tuesday, November 22, the Louis Riel School Division Board of Trustees confirmed the appointment of Michelle Jean-Paul to Assistant Superintendent of Staff Services and Liaise to the Glenlawn Collegiate Institute Family of Schools, effective immediately. With the support of Lisa Aitken over the next five weeks, she will transition to her new role and responsibilities.

Since joining the Senior Leadership Team as the Divisional Principal of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Anti-Racism Services at the beginning of 2022, Michelle has provided support to schools in implementing key strategic priorities of the DEI and Anti-Racism Initiatives to enhance outcomes for students and families.

In her new position, Michelle will provide human resource leadership and guidance in all divisional staff services and Workplace Safety Health (WSH) matters, including the overall management and supervision of the Staff Services Department and Workplace Safety and Health Officer. Michelle will support the development and implementation of a multi-year, equity-based employment strategy focused on anti-racism/anti-oppressive education, and restorative practices. She will also be the liaise Assistant Superintendent to the Glenlawn Collegiate Institute Family of Schools.

Michelle brings to the position more than a decade of leadership experience in French Immersion schools in Winnipeg, as well as extensive community work primarily focused on issues of equity. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Administration with a proposed doctoral thesis in equity policy.

On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, I congratulate Michelle on her new appointment, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside Michelle in this new role.

    Sincerely,

    Christian Michalik
