Library Services
The role of the Island Lakes Community School Library is to provide an active learning environment that is accessible to our school community. We strive to support teaching and learning goals that ensure students develop as information literate learners. Our facility provides easy, equitable access to a rich variety of reading materials. With over 16,000 items in our collection, we have a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books, reference books, magazines, and professional and parent resources. A pod of computers offers students an opportunity to search our library catalogue and to access digital information sources, such as World Book Online, online databases and the Internet.
All school staff, including the teacher-librarian and library assistant, work together as educational partners to support best practices of school library programs, collaborative teaching and learning, and inquiry-based teaching and learning.
Students are responsible for all library items checked out under their name. In the event of loss or damage to a book, students are responsible for the replacement cost. Students with books that are overdue will have a note sent home to their parents.
