A provincewide donation of eggs is giving a boost to student nutrition in the Louis Riel School Division, helping ensure children have the fuel they need to learn and thrive.
Manitoba Egg Farmers has donated 10,000 coupons for a free dozen eggs to schools across Manitoba through the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba. Supported by Egg Farmers of Canada’s Egg Farmers Give Back program, the initiative is expected to deliver up to 120,000 eggs to students.

Representatives stopped by Lavallee School, one of the schools that will benefit from the donation, to see their donation in action and learn more about the LRSD community. The contribution supports the division’s Universal Nutrition Program, which provides snacks and meals to students across LRSD.
The Universal Nutrition Program was developed as part of Strategic Action 4.4 of the division’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan 2023–27, with a focus on student well-being and removing barriers to learning. Schools throughout the division receive nutritious food to help students stay focused, engaged and ready to learn.
“Manitoba Egg Farmers understands how vital it is for children in our communities to have access to nutritious, wholesome food,” said Sandra Dyck, a director on Manitoba Egg Farmers’ board. “We’re proud to help give students the healthy start they need to thrive. Eggs are an affordable, easy-to-prepare source of high-quality protein that helps fuel a full day of learning.”

Within LRSD, the donation will help schools supplement existing nutrition programming with a versatile and nutritious food option. Eggs can be used in breakfasts, snacks or meals, allowing schools to meet the needs of their students in practical ways.

The division welcomes the support from Manitoba Egg Farmers, Egg Farmers of Canada and the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba. Partnerships with community organizations play an important role in sustaining school nutrition programs.
By working together, schools and community partners are helping ensure that more students across the Louis Riel School Division start their day nourished and ready to learn.
