The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.  

The Board received presentations from: 

  • Roots and Seeds of Empathy 
    The presentation featured a special visit from one-year-old Lily. The benefits of the program were highlighted through powerful video examples. Additional information about the program is available on the divisional website

  • Nelson McIntyre Collegiate GSA 
    Adam Engel, Teacher, from Nelson McIntyre Collegiate, and Tavian Ricard, Grade 12 student shared highlights from the school’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), including key activities and accomplishments. Trustees were struck by the level of positivity and joy in the presentation and visible in the presenters. Ideas for expansion next year were shared. 

  • Full-Day, Every-Day Kindergarten Report 
    Nicholas Kelly, Director of School and Classroom Supports, presented a report on successes and ongoing challenges. Survey data from Grade 1 teachers indicated that 71per cent observed improved school readiness, literacy skills, and overall preparedness for the Grade 1 schedule. 

Superintendent Michalik shared the schematic plans for the renovations at J.H. Bruns Collegiate.  

Superintendent Michalik provided details about the agreement with the Northpine Foundation.  

Theresa Niedermayer, Workplace Safety & Health Officer, provided the fourth quarter Workplace Safety and Health report.  

The Board recorded correspondence as being received.  

The Chair adjourned the meeting at 8:43 p.m.
