Four classes from École Henri-Bergeron embarked on an exciting journey as part of their space unit curriculum, participating in a project called Marsville. This innovative project was presented and organized by the teacher-librarian, Diane Thuot-MacDonald.
Learning About Mars: Students delved into the mysteries of the Red Planet, comparing its environment to life here on Earth. The goal was to simulate a community living on Mars and develop sustainable life cycles that would allow us to live there in harmony.
Group Activities: Throughout the project, students engaged in a variety of group activities, including:
Creating Mission Patches: Each group designed unique patches representing their mission.
AI-Generated Songs: Students composed songs about their mission with the help of AI.
Decision-Making Exercises: Activities focused on making crucial decisions about living on Mars.
Life Cycle Creations: Partnered students developed life cycles and presented them to the class.
Link-Up Day: The highlight of the project was Link-Up Day on May 1st, 2025. This special day was dedicated to collaborative efforts in building habitats in the gym. Students worked together, engaging in lively discussions and problem-solving to construct their habitats. The day was filled with smiles and a sense of accomplishment as every team successfully built their habitat.
Conclusion: Marsville was a resounding success, fostering teamwork, creativity, and a deeper understanding of space exploration. The students of École Henri-Bergeron demonstrated remarkable ingenuity and cooperation, making this project an unforgettable experience.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates from our young explorers!
