    Program Description

    Esthetics:  One of the fastest growing industries that offers endless opportunities.

    This program will provide students with the knowledge, skills and current trends necessary for all aspects of esthetics. Students will experience high energy, fun, creative artistry and the ability to add individuality when performing real spa services using leading esthetics equipment. Students will learn about and work with professional nail, skin and body products. Students will also understand and experience the importance of retailing.  This program will provide students with the related theory and practical knowledge which is based on Apprenticeship Manitoba esthetics curriculum.

    Prerequisites and Beneficial Skills

    • High school students have completed Grade 10.
    • Post-secondary students have completed Grade 12.
    • Applicants not meeting the entrance requirements may be accepted as mature students. Skills assessment may be required.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Creative aptitude and manual dexterity.
    • Enjoy working with the public.
    • Knowledge and practice of basic hygiene. 

    Certification

    LRATC certificates will be issued after successful completion of the eleven credit program.  Students must maintain a minimum accumulative average of 70% and complete all required hours to be eligible to receive a certificate.

    Esthetician trade is accredited by Apprenticeship Manitoba.

    Apprenticeship and Employment Opportunities

    The Esthetics program at ATC is accredited by Apprenticeship Manitoba under the trades of Esthetician.

    To become an apprentice in the trade of Esthetician, students must:

    • successfully complete the Esthetics program at LRATC (1298 hours)
    • maintain an accumulative average of 70% or better in the trade subjects
    • obtain a grade of 70% or higher in each component of the in-school practical exam administered by Apprenticeship Manitoba
    • have a completed Grade 12 high school standing or equivalent
    • gain employment under the supervision of a Journeyperson Esthetician and register as apprentices.


    During the two-year apprenticeship, a theory exam will be administered by Apprenticeship Manitoba.

    Students who wish to work in the Esthetician trade are required to register into an Apprenticeship Agreement with their employer.

    Additional Costs 

    Part 1: $250.00 (approx.) for a nail kit. 

    Part 2: $250.00 (approx.) for an esthetics kit. 

    Students are required to purchase scrub uniform with black scrub pants, and black enclosed comfortable shoes.  
    Students may wish to purchase additional tools to increase their tool inventory. 

    Internship
    Yes - Students will have the opportunity to work with clients over the course of their program in the school’s professional salon and will not be required to work off-site.
